From 17 to 19 August 2026 (local time), the Chile Final of the “China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges — 2026 Poverty Alleviation Challenge” was held in Santiago. The Universidad de Chile, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and the University of Santiago de Chile hosted different stages of the program. Six finalist teams from China, Brazil, Chile, and Peru participated in exchanges, field visits, mentoring sessions, and project presentations, further refining their collaboratively developed poverty alleviation solutions.
On 27 August, Visión Universitaria, a media platform affiliated with the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, published a report focusing on how Chinese and Latin American youth jointly explored solutions to real-world challenges. The report highlighted projects related to AI-powered teaching assistants, migrant health services, fisheries-waste reutilization, and logistics support for river-based producers, illustrating how participants from different countries and academic backgrounds addressed multidimensional poverty through transnational collaboration. The report also cited remarks by María Montt, Vice President for International Affairs of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and Professor Chen Taotao, Director of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center. Both emphasized that internationalization is not merely about mobility, but about understanding differences, integrating knowledge, and taking collective action in response to real societal challenges. The report further noted that the 12 finalist teams from the Brazil and Chile finals will continue their exchange activities and project development in China.
