Dear Alumni and Friends from All Sectors,The global challenge of poverty alleviation is in urgent need of wisdom and innovation! In 2024, we witnessed the China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges — Poverty Alleviation Challenge spark a fervent wave of poverty alleviation dialogue led by Chinese and Latin American youth in China, Brazil and Chile. Witnessed by the mutual visits of national leaders and international summits, it has become a landmark project for the win-win development of China and Latin America. In 2025, the challenge expanded to four countries: China, Brazil, Chile and Peru, attracting the participation of over 310 teachers and students from 27 universities and enterprises, and receiving support from embassies of China and multiple Latin American countries as well as renowned enterprises.

Editor's Note: 32 Latin American youth who advanced to the final of the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge came to China for exchange and practice. The study tour activities focused on themes such as poverty alleviation empowered by scientific and technological innovation, accessible social construction, and rural revitalization. By visiting cutting-edge scientific research institutions and on-site practices of rural industries and culture, Latin American youth gained an in-depth understanding of China's exploratory experience in poverty alleviation and sustainable development, enhanced their comprehension of China's development philosophy through on-site observation and mutual learning, and injected new impetus into China-Latin America youth cooperation and the sharing of poverty alleviation experience. Editor's Note: During the study tour and practice in China of the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge, Latin American young students from Brazil, Peru and Chile systematically understood China's exploratory paths in poverty alleviation and sustainable development by visiting Chinese universities, scientific research institutions and rural areas. Combining theory with practice, the study tour activities guided Chinese and Latin American youth to fully recognize the concrete results and institutional experience of China's poverty alleviation from scheme design to grassroots practice, and further deepened the mutual understanding and mutual learning between Chinese and Latin American youth on development issues. Editor's Note: During their study tour and practice in China, the Peruvian team of the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge learned in Zhangjiajie, Hunan Province about the local practical exploration of promoting the integrated development of agriculture and tourism under the premise of ecological protection. By understanding on the spot the transformation of ecological resources, the mechanism of employment and income increase, and the achievements of rural infrastructure improvement, Chinese and Latin American youth have an intuitive understanding of the comprehensive driving effect of green development on rural revitalization, and a deeper understanding of the development concept that "Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets".
