The “China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges—2026 Poverty Alleviation Challenge”, initiated by Tsinghua University, aims to provide a platform for cross-border collaboration, knowledge exchange, and practical innovation among young people from China and Latin America. The 2026 program attracted 666 participants from 88 universities and institutions across China, Brazil, Chile, and Peru, forming a total of 119 teams. On August 14, 2026 (Brazil time), the Brazil Station Final project evaluation was held at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). The six finalist teams presented and defended their projects in areas including educational empowerment, community-based industries, the circular economy, public health, agriculture, and infrastructure, proposing poverty alleviation solutions tailored to local needs. Ultimately, RAÍCES, a cross-national team composed of students from Tsinghua University and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Perú, won the Gold Award.
