This project was initiated by the Pacíficos Peruanos team. It focuses on the difficult issue of water access in Peru, aiming to provide sustainable clean water solutions for rural and marginalized areas. Currently, 10% of Peru's population (about 3.4 million people) lack access to high - quality drinking water, with the problem being particularly severe in rural and low - income areas. Some settlements on hillsides rely on water tanker trucks that supply water once every 15 days. Moreover, there are problems such as over - exploitation of groundwater and salinization. Previous fog - water collection systems have been abandoned due to lack of maintenance, and the water - tanker - supply model is costly and unsustainable. The project selects areas like San Juan de Lurigancho, which are water - vulnerable and densely populated. It introduces the Air - to - Water Generation (AWG) system. Taking advantage of the local high humidity environment of 70% - 90%, this system is powered by solar energy and has a daily water production capacity of 1000 liters. It does not need to be connected to the public water supply network, which is suitable for the scattered layout of hillside settlements and can meet the water demands of community kitchens and households. The system has the advantages of being self - renewable and having low operating costs. It can improve residents' health, relieve the water - fetching burden on women, and enhance the community's climate resilience.
