Project Name:A Dual-Use Foldbox System for Combating Disaster-Driven Impoverishment
内容简介

This project was initiated by the Resilio team. Aiming at the poverty and displacement problems in disaster - prone areas, it presents the Dual - Use Foldbox solution. Many regions around the world have been severely hit by disasters. In 2023, Chile suffered losses of $2.8 billion due to natural disasters. In 2024, 580,000 people were displaced in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. In the urban - rural fringes, suburbs and rural areas where disasters occur frequently, there are problems such as dense and unsafe buildings, weak disaster - prevention capabilities, and insufficient infrastructure. These areas also face governance gaps and marginalized resource allocation. The foldbox is convenient for transportation. 12 foldboxes can be loaded into one container, and a cargo ship can transport 42,000 at a time. It only takes 2 - 3 minutes to unfold, and its folded volume is 1/7 of the unfolded state. It has the characteristics of fire - proof, waterproof and typhoon - resistant, with a service life of 10 years. During the emergency phase, it can be used as a shelter to ensure the safety of 8 people. During the community recovery phase, it can be transformed into a library, senior center, grocery store, etc., creating job opportunities. The project is promoted through multi - party cooperation between China and Latin America, realizing the transformation from emergency facilities to community assets, and helping to alleviate poverty caused by disasters.
