As a doctoral student from the School of Safety Engineering participating in the“China-Latin American Youth Responding to Global Challenges —— 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge", this experience has made me keenly aware that poverty alleviation and safety assurance are intrinsically linked. Both strive to build more resilient communities capable of withstanding global challenges.

Our team, "Resilio", zeroed in on the issue of post - disaster emergency shelters. Our goal was to offer security for vulnerable communities to bounce back rapidly after a shock by proposing a new - type foldable shelter module. The integration of safety science with sustainable development goals demonstrated to me how technological innovation can directly meet people's fundamental needs. When collaborating with partners from countries like Brazil and Chile, diverse perspectives constantly expanded the design aspects of our plan. For instance, the in - depth understanding of local community structures and disaster characteristics by our Latin - American peers ensured that our plan was not only technically viable but also culturally adaptable. This cross - cultural exchange of ideas is the most invaluable aspect of the Poverty Alleviation Challenge.

All in all, this experience isn't merely a competition; it's a profound learning opportunity about responsibility and innovation. It spurs me on to keep exploring how to contribute to global poverty alleviation and sustainable development with the expertise of safety science.
