Prof. Chen Taotao, Director of Tsinghua University Latin America Center, along with members of the Chilean and Beijing teams of the center, met with Ms. Isabella Luksic, CEO of the Luksic Foundation, and Mr. Peter Morse, President of the Luksic Scholars Foundation, on the afternoon of November 27, Santiago time.

      Director Chen Taotao began by giving an overview of the recent activities of the Latin America Center. This included supporting 9 Tsinghua student teams for overseas internships in Chile, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic during the summer vocation. She also highlighted other achievements such as organizing dialogues with Chinese-funded companies in collaboration with Chilean senators, hosting the visit of Prof. Lilian Ferrer, Vice President of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (UC Chile), attending the Annual Meeting of the China-Chile Business Council in October, receiving the ambassadors of Antigua and Grenada, hosting the visit of the Vice Minister for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Economy, Planning, and Development of the Dominican Republic, and welcoming the visit of the President of Uruguay who also delivered a speech. Furthermore, Prof. Chen mentioned the upcoming visit of professors from the School of Life Sciences and School of Medicine at Tsinghua University to Chile for exchange.

     Ms. Isabella acknowledged and praised the efforts of the center, offering valuable insights on how to further enhance its work in Chile.

     Tsinghua University Latin America Center was established in Santiago, Chile in December 2018, with the sponsorship of the Luksic Group. Serving as a liaison and communication base for Tsinghua University in Latin America, the center is committed to fostering seamless exchanges with local government departments, academia, think tanks, and enterprises. It prioritizes the expansion of academic research, student training, people-to-people exchanges, and collaborations in technological innovation.

     As early as 2006, the Luksic Group began supporting an MBA student exchange program between the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University and UC Chile. In 2010, they extended their support to establish the Tsinghua SEM Center for China-Latin America Management Studies. For years, the Luksic Group has been dedicating significant efforts to advancing China-Chile relations and facilitating exchanges between the two countries, making immense contributions that have had a lasting impact.
