On the morning of September 2nd, President Ignacio Sánchez of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile visited Tsinghua University. President Qiu Yong met with the guests in Gongziting. The two sides had in-depth discussions and talks on further expanding exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.

During the talks, President Qiu Yong welcomed President Ignacio Sánchez on his visit to Tsinghua University again. He said that Tsinghua attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. The Tsinghua University Latin America Center inaugurated in Santiago, Chile, is an important measure undertaken by Tsinghua University to promote the implementation of its global strategy. President Qiu noted that the exchange of visits between the two universities is frequent, the fields of cooperation are constantly expanding, and faculty and student exchange is increasingly active. He hopes that the fields of exchange and cooperation between the two universities could be expanded from economic management, legal education to astronomy, journalism, art and engineering in the future.

Ignacio Sánchez noted that the two universities have had 12 years of cooperation in economic management and he hopes to cooperate with the Tsinghua Department of Astronomy in the future.

After the meeting with President Qiu, President Sánchez also had meetings with the heads of departments such as the School of Economics and Management, the School of Law, the Academy of Arts and Design, the Department of Astronomy, and the School of Journalism and Communication.
