Introduction

This Project intends to conduct research on the investment environment of Colombia and Peru and the investment opportunities of Chinese companies in these two countries.

First, we will make an analysis about the macro investment environment of Peru and Colombia. Specifically, we analyze the foreign capital flows of the two countries and their international and regional status, so as to grasp the changes in the foreign investment location of the two countries at a macro level. At the same time, we will refer to the investment environment reports issued by international authoritative organizations to analyze the investment environment of the two countries from specific perspectives such as cross-border investment, competitiveness, and business environment.

Second, we will study the investment environment of Peru and Colombia from the perspective of typical industries. As far as Peru is concerned, the petroleum industry, mining and telecommunications industries are Peru’s key industries for introducing investment, as well as key areas of investment by Chinese companies. As for Colombia, the manufacturing and infrastructure industries are the key areas for the government, and complementary with China. Therefore, this Project focuses on analyzing the corresponding industries in the above-mentioned countries.

Third, this Project will explore investment opportunities for Chinese companies. The research team makes trips to these two countries, conducts on-site investigations of investment companies, analyzes the investment models and investment conditions of Chinese companies in Peru and Colombia, and analyze possible investment opportunities for Chinese companies.

Based on a complete analysis of the above three perspectives, we will offer corresponding policy recommendations for Chinese companies investing in Peru and Colombia.
