On the morning of December 12, 2025, Peru time, the Tsinghua University Latin America Center team held a meeting with Ms. Eusebia Huamani. Attendees included Professor Chen Taotao, Professor of Finance Department of School of Economics & Management, Tsinghua University, Director of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center, and Director of Center for China-Latin America Management Studies, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University; as well as Rong Yu, postdoctoral researcher, and Feng Jian and Qiao Ziyi, PhD candidates from the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. Also present was community representative Mr. Claudio Huamani.

During the meeting, Ms. Eusebia Huamani shared with the Latin America Center team her personal experience, focusing on how she started her own business and developed a community cleaning enterprise from scratch. She mentioned that the community's cleaning company currently employs 60 local residents, with the majority being women. The company is responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance of the Minera Las Bambas S.A. mine's camp facilities. The establishment and development of this company have effectively promoted local employment, especially increasing women's opportunities for employment. Ms. Eusebia emphasized that the company not only provides job opportunities but also offers skills training, enabling community members to acquire new vocational abilities, thereby laying a foundation for their long-term development.

Professor Chen Taotao highly commended Ms. Eusebia's entrepreneurial spirit and her ability to organize. She pointed out that Ms. Eusebia's approach in promoting local community empowerment and fostering regional economic development through entrepreneurship is highly significant. It is a vivid practice of the concept of "teaching people to fish rather than giving them fish" and serves as a positive example for China-Latin America exchange and learning in poverty reduction and sustainable development.

Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as corporate social responsibility, the development of community enterprises, and women's empowerment. They concurred that strengthening the capacity building of local communities, especially enhancing the economic participation and leadership skills of women, is crucial for realizing the long-term sustainability of community development.
