On the morning of December 3, 2025, Santiago, Chile time, a team from the Tsinghua University Latin America Center visited the Chinese Embassy in Chile and held talks with Ms. Xu Yunzhe, Director of the Embassy's Cultural Office. Attendees included Professor Chen Taotao, Professor of Finance Department of School of Economics & Management, Tsinghua University, Director of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center, and Director of Center for China-Latin America Management Studies, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University; Liang Min, staff member of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center's Chile Office; as well as Rong Yu, postdoctoral researcher, and Feng Jian and Qiao Ziyi, PhD candidates from the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University.
During the meeting, Professor Chen Taotao, Director of the Latin America Center, first expressed gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Chile for its long-term support of the "China-Latin American Youth Responding to Global Challenges: Poverty Alleviation Challenge" project. Subsequently, Professor Chen Taotao systematically introduced the project's core objectives, operational mechanisms, and its achievements in promoting mutual learning of poverty reduction experiences between China and Latin America, talent cultivation, and industry-university-research collaboration. She also elaborated on the establishment background, development history, and main functions of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center.
Director Xu Yunzhe highly commended the work of the Latin America Center, pointing out that the "Poverty Alleviation Challenge" project is a vivid practice of implementing the consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, promoting mutual learning between Chinese and Latin American civilizations, and telling China's story well. She noted that the project holds significant exemplary value and promising prospects for broader application. She stated that the Embassy is willing to further strengthen collaboration with the Center to jointly promote the continuous deepening of practical cooperation between China and Chile in areas such as education, culture, and people's livelihoods.
