On the afternoon of December 2, 2025, Chile time, a team from the Tsinghua University Latin America Center visited the University of Chile for an exchange and discussion. Attendees of the meeting included Professor Chen Taotao, Professor of Finance Department of School of Economics & Management, Tsinghua University, Director of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center, and Director of Center for China-Latin America Management Studies, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University; from the University of Chile, Professor Christian Enrique González-Billault, Vice President for Research and Development; Professor Alicia Noemí Salomone, Director of International Relations; Professor Rómulo Antonio Fuentes Flores, Director of Research; Professor Cecilia Saint-Pierre, Director of Online Education; Osvaldo Guzmán Núñez, Deputy Director of International Relations; and Valentina Restrepo Miranda, Internationalization Officer of the Research and Development Department (VID). The Tsinghua delegation was accompanied by Liang Min, staff member of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center's Chile Office, as well as Rong Yu, a postdoctoral researcher, and Feng Jian and Qiao Ziyi, PhD candidates from the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management.
During the meeting, both parties reviewed the successful "China-Latin American Youth Responding to Global Challenges: 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge" Chile Finals held in Santiago in August of this year. They also explored possibilities for further collaboration in joint academic activities to expand research cooperation. Furthermore, the discussion focused on how to leverage the University of Chile's online education platform to advance the Poverty Alleviation Challenge project in the coming year. Both sides also exchanged ideas on potential future cooperation in the field of online education between the two universities.
