On the afternoon of December 1, 2025, Santiago, Chile time, a team from the Tsinghua University Latin America Center visited the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile for an exchange and discussion. Attendees of the meeting included Professor Chen Taotao, Professor of Finance Department of School of Economics & Management, Tsinghua University, Director of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center, and Director of Center for China-Latin America Management Studies, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University; Maria Montt, Vice President for International Affairs of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile; Maribel Florez, Director of the Office of Global Learning under the Vice President for International Affairs; and Ramon Molina, Director of the Center for Innovation. The Tsinghua delegation was accompanied by Liang Min, staff member of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center's Chile Office, as well as Rong Yu, a postdoctoral researcher, and Feng Jian and Qiao Ziyi, PhD candidates from the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management.
During the meeting, both parties first conducted an in-depth review and summary of the "China-Latin American Youth Responding to Global Challenges: 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge." Professor Maria Montt, Vice President for International Affairs of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, spoke highly of the "Poverty Alleviation Challenge" project, describing it as "the best mechanism to promote substantive cooperation between Chinese and Chilean universities since 2006." Professor Chen Taotao, Director of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center, further elaborated on the project's significant role in promoting student international exchanges and facilitating mutual learning of experiences in poverty alleviation and sustainable development between China and Latin America.
Both parties plan to further optimize the project mechanism next year, explore the establishment of more targeted thematic tracks, and comprehensively deepen cooperation between the two universities in areas such as student exchanges, faculty visits, and joint research, aiming to jointly build a closer, more pragmatic, and future-oriented partnership.
