China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges — 2026 Poverty Alleviation Challenge

We are now recruiting project interns publicly.

Looking forward to working with you to advance the practical exchange of Chinese and Latin American youth in poverty alleviation!

About the 2026 Poverty Alleviation Challenge

Poverty alleviation is a common challenge for developing countries and the whole world. Since Tsinghua University launched the China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges — Poverty Alleviation Challenge in conjunction with top Latin American universities in 2024, the project has been successfully held for two sessions and become a benchmark for win-win cooperation between Chinese and Latin American youth.

In 2024, Qiu Yong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tsinghua University, and the President of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil jointly signed a cooperation agreement between the two universities on the China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges project, and the initiative was included in the outcomes list of President Xi Jinping’s visit to Brazil. In 2025, the Poverty Alleviation Challenge expanded to four countries: China, Brazil, Chile and Peru, attracting the participation of over 310 teachers and students from 27 universities and enterprises, and receiving support from embassies of multiple countries and renowned enterprises.

In 2026, the Poverty Alleviation Challenge will write a new chapter with a broader vision, deeper cooperation and a more holistic approach, injecting youthful momentum into the global cause of poverty alleviation!

Over the past two years, Chinese and Latin American youth have moved from classrooms to the field, sparking innovative ideas to solve poverty issues and redefining the power of "youth" through cross-cultural collaboration.
