Dear Alumni and Friends from All Sectors,
The global challenge of poverty alleviation is in urgent need of wisdom and innovation! In 2024, we witnessed the China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges — Poverty Alleviation Challenge spark a fervent wave of poverty alleviation dialogue led by Chinese and Latin American youth in China, Brazil and Chile. Witnessed by the mutual visits of national leaders and international summits, it has become a landmark project for the win-win development of China and Latin America. In 2025, the challenge expanded to four countries: China, Brazil, Chile and Peru, attracting the participation of over 310 teachers and students from 27 universities and enterprises, and receiving support from embassies of China and multiple Latin American countries as well as renowned enterprises.
Today, the Tsinghua University Latin American Center, the Research Center for China-Latin America Management Studies at the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, and the Global Competence Development Guidance Center for Students of Tsinghua University, together with university and enterprise partners from multiple Latin American countries, sincerely invite elites from the government, industry and academia to participate in the 2026 China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges — Poverty Alleviation Challenge, and inject new impetus into the global cause of poverty alleviation!
1. Project Background
Global Attention, Shared Responsibility
Poverty alleviation is not only a common problem for developing countries, but also a shared challenge for the whole world. Through the guidance of an interdisciplinary mentor team, we aim to help young participants deeply understand the organic integration of poverty alleviation policies, practices and innovations, connect with cutting-edge global poverty alleviation methodologies, and transform high-quality poverty alleviation experience into replicable knowledge products and implementable projects, so as to address the complex poverty issues in reality.
Fruitful China-Latin America Cooperation
Launched in 2024, Tsinghua University has co-hosted two sessions of the China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges — Poverty Alleviation Challenge with top universities in Brazil, Chile, Peru and other countries. The initiative has not only inspired the enthusiasm of Chinese and Latin American youth to engage in the international poverty alleviation cause, but also gained extensive attention and recognition from the international community. Looking ahead to 2026, building on the successful experience of the first two sessions, we expect to further build a multi-stakeholder poverty alleviation community, smooth the channel for sharing South-South cooperation experience, and write a new chapter for the China-Latin America poverty alleviation cause!
