On the afternoon of November 18, 2024 Tsinghua LAC and Envision Group successfully co-hosted the "Envision-Tsinghua China-Brazil Sustainable Development Forum" at the Rosewood Hotel in São Paulo, Brazil. The event brought together more than 20 distinguished guests from Tsinghua University, Envision Group, and several Brazilian universities.
The forum began with opening remarks from Xiao Qian, Director of Tsinghua University’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange. She highlighted the collaborative opportunities between Tsinghua University and Envision Group in innovation research, international cooperation, and talent development, all focused on achieving green, low-carbon, and sustainable growth. Xiao also reaffirmed Tsinghua’s dedication to advancing academic research and building global partnerships.
Subsequently, Peng Wei, Senior Vice President of Envision Energy and President of the Latin America/Europe Region, emphasized Envision’s role as a global technology leader dedicated to sustainable development. He conveyed a sense of optimism regarding the exceptional opportunities that the partnership with Tsinghua University presents, particularly in addressing the challenges of climate change and furthering sustainability initiatives.
Professor Chen Taotao, Director of Tsinghua Latin America Center and China-Latin America Management Research Center delivered a compelling keynote speech titled “Investing in Brazil and Latin America – Green and Inclusive Development,” where she analyzed the advantages and challenges of Chinese investments in the region within the current global context. Chen underscored the importance of green and inclusive development, highlighting the potential of the "China - Latin America Youth Challenge to Alleviate Poverty" as a platform for fostering collaboration among universities, businesses, and governments to promote inclusivity.

Additional keynote speakers included Professor Liu Dehua, Director of the China-Brazil Climate and Energy Center and the China-Latin America Clean Energy and Climate Change International Joint Research Center; Marcello L. R. Campos, Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro; and Antonio José de Almeida Meirelles, President of the State University of Campinas (Unicamp).
