On the afternoon of November 20, 2024 (local time in Brazil), the Tsinghua University-Brazil National Confederation of Industry (CNI) Seminar was held in Brasilia, Brazil. The event brought together more than 30 participants, including representatives from Tsinghua University, the Brazil National Confederation of Industry, and the Chinese Embassy in Brasilia.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Qiu Yong, Party Secretary of Tsinghua University, and Ricardo Alban, President of the Brazil National Confederation of Industry (CNI). During his remarks, Qiu Yong highlighted that as China accelerates efforts to develop "new productive forces" and Brazil advances its "New Industrial Plan" strategy, there are significant opportunities for enhanced cooperation in science, technology, and economic collaboration. He expressed confidence that the seminar would foster industry-academia-research synergies between Tsinghua, Brazil, and the broader Latin American region, resulting in more mutually beneficial outcomes. Alban echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that China-Brazil relations are currently at their strongest point in history. He emphasized Tsinghua University's global reputation for academic excellence and expressed optimism for deeper cooperation between the two parties in the future.

Keynote Speech by Professor Chen Taotao
Chen Taotao, Director of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center, Professor of the Department of Finance at Tsinghua’s School of Economics and Management, and Director of the China-Latin America Management Research Center, delivered a keynote speech titled "China's Investment and Host Country Co-Development — Reflections on Brazil’s New Industrial Policy." During her address, Professor Chen explored China's role in Brazil’s new industrial policy and analyzed trends in global foreign direct investment (FDI) as well as the development paths of China and Brazil. She focused on how the two countries can achieve shared growth under Brazil’s new industrial policy framework. Additionally, she identified key issues that warrant further exploration and outlined several areas where Brazil and China could continue to deepen their collaboration in the future.

Through the seminar, other experts and scholars from China and Brazil also delivered insightful academic reports, offering their perspectives on new opportunities for future cooperation between the two nations.
