On October 28 and 29, 2024, Tsinghua University Latin America Center welcomed Ms. Maribel Flórez, Director of the Global Learning Office under the Vice President for International Affairs at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, along with Professor Maria Luisa Méndez, Director of the Center for Social Conflict and Cohesion Studies (COES). The Latin America Center arranged a range of activities for the delegation, including departmental exchanges and campus tours.

The visit opened with a meeting on October 28 between the delegation and Professor Chen Taotao, Director of the Latin America Center. Discussions centered on follow-up activities for the "China-Latin America Youth Challenge to Alleviate Poverty" co-hosted by both universities earlier in the year, and ideas were exchanged regarding preparations for the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Camp.

On the afternoon of the 28th, Professor Liu Jian from the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University warmly welcomed the visiting guests, and both sides exchanged views on the development of urban planning as a discipline.
The following morning, October 29, the UC delegation visited Tsinghua’s Shengyin Courtyard, where they met with Professor Liao Ying, Director of the Center for Global Competence. In a relaxed atmosphere, discussions covered topics such as student activities and faculty exchanges between the two universities.
Later that afternoon, the delegation toured the XuetangX headquarters, where Zhang Dexia, Director of Marketing, presented an overview of Tsinghua’s MOOC programs and the XuetangX platform. Both sides expressed a shared interest in expanding collaboration on online education courses.
The Pontifical Catholic University of Chile is a key partner of Tsinghua University in Latin America, with a long-standing and strong relationship across various disciplines and fields. The two-day visit was tightly scheduled yet highly productive. Representatives from UC expressed their gratitude for the valuable discussions and the thoughtful arrangements made by the Latin America Center.
