On the afternoon of October 31, 2024, Beijing time, Professor Lilian Ferrer, Vice President for International Affairs at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, visited Tsinghua University’s School of Medicine. Organized by the Tsinghua University Latin America Center, Professor Ferrer met with faculty from both the School of Medicine and the School of Life Sciences in the School of Medicine's conference room. The meeting was attended by Professor Shen Zhimin, Senior Director of International Cooperation at Tsinghua's School of Medicine; Professor Zhang Mingyan of the School of Medicine; Professor Liang Xin of the School of Life Sciences; Professor Chen Gong of the School of Life Sciences; Dong Yu, Executive Director of the Tsinghua Latin America Center; and Rong Yu, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Finance at Tsinghua University's School of Economics and Management.
In the first meeting of the afternoon, professors from Tsinghua University’s School of Medicine warmly welcomed Professor Ferrer. Professors Shen Zhimin and Zhang Mingyan provided an overview of the School of Medicine's history, its future strategic framework, and Tsinghua's vision for medical education. The meeting concluded with an in-depth discussion about potential collaborations between Tsinghua University and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in the field of medicine.

In the subsequent session, Professor Lilian Ferrer met with faculty from the School of Life Sciences at Tsinghua University. Professors Liang Xin and Chen Gong introduced the "Field Practice in General Biology" course, outlining its primary objectives, key topics, and preliminary program. The meeting culminated in a productive discussion about cultural exchanges, student collaborations, and other related topics, generating several ideas for future partnerships.
