On the 29th September, Peru’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr. Luis Quesada visited Tsinghua University, and attended the 12th “Vision in Tsinghua, Dialogue with Ambassadors” event hosted by Prof. CHEN Taotao, Director of Latin America Center, Professor of School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University.
Ambassador Quesada was welcomed to the “Vision in Tsinghua, Dialogue with Ambassadors” event by Prof. CHEN Jinxi, the Associate Dean of International Affairs, and Executive Director of the International Students & Scholars Center.

In his speech, Ambassador Quesada first expressed his pleasure to attend the series event. Besides a detailed introduction to the historical and future development of Peru spanning from history, economy to culture, he also pointed out thatPeru, as the birthplace of the Andean civilization, bred with rich treasures and created multiple ways of expression in the fields of art, food, literature, and music.
Ambassador Quesada reviewed the historical origins of Peruvian and Chinese civilizations and the development of friendship between the two countries over the past 50 years. Since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Peru in 2013, the two countries have continuously deepened mutual understanding and expanded cooperation.This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Peru and the 200th anniversary of Peru’s independence.He expressed the wish that the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation in the future and develop more diversified and more effective collaborations.
In the Event Venue
The event attracted the participation of over 50 students and scholars. Participants were active in the Q & A session. Questions related to China-Peru friendship and cultural exchanges in the post-epidemic era, expectations and suggestions for Peruvian students in China, among many others. Ambassador Quesada praised the audience for their questions and was warmly applauded for his open and in-depth responses.
To extend the appreciation for the speech, representatives from Association of Student International Communication, presented Ambassador Quesada with a silk round fan designed by Tsinghua students.

“Vision in Tsinghua, Dialogue with Ambassadors” is an initiative organized by the International Students & Scholars Center (ISSC).The series of events is aimed at enriching cultural awareness and providing an international experience on campus.By frequently inviting ambassadors to Tsinghua, it is hoped that students and scholars will benefit from an exchange of ideas, and obtain a better understanding of the world in terms of governance, international relations, and culture.
