On June 17, 2021, Beijing time, Tsinghua University Latin America Center organized and held the second Latin American Alumni Meeting with the participation of alumni from Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and other Latin American countries. The first alumni meeting was held on June 30, 2020.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Chen Taotao, Director of the Center, expresses her warm welcome to the alumni. She said that it was a great chance to have familiar faces here and new alumni coming in. Then, she made an introduction about the Center’s annual work in 2020 and some key projects and activities that the Center is organizing and carrying out this year, such as Tsinghua – UC technology transfer meetup and activities for celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Peru.

Subsequently, Xie Lufang, assistant to the Director of the Center, made a summary of the work of alumni and gave feedback on the suggestions put forward by the alumni at the first meeting.

The Second Latin American Alumni Meeting

After the introduction by the Center, alumni shared their insights and opinions about the future’s potential work together. For example, they are willing to provide help, support or involve in the activities of the Center, such as the connection and cooperation between Tsinghua University and Argentine universities, Events for celebrating the 50^thAnniversary between China and Peru, setting liaison offices or liaison points in other Latin American countries, etc. They also suggested to strengthen the relationship between alumni so that they can exchange information and experiences with each other, and create more opportunities for each other. Besides, they gave some advices on the specific topics for next alumni meeting.

Professor Chen Taotao expressed her gratitude to the alumni for their suggestions and gave correspondent answers.

“The Center’s future development in Latin American countries will actively cater to the needs of alumni. We do hope to have and create more opportunities in work together in the activities that are beneficial to the promotion of China-Latin America exchanges and cooperation, and beneficial to you.” she said, at the end of the meeting.
