Investing in Latin America: A multi-case study of Chinese firms

Abstract:From the perspective of international investment, Chinese enterprises are in an absolute "latecomer" position in the global foreign direct investment with the investment development against the trend of the world in recent years. Under this background, “one belt, one road” initiative put forward by China in 2013 is facing challenges around the world. In order to explore the realization basis of the “one belt on road” initiative under the condition of the initiative expanding to Latin America, this paper selected three typical Chinese enterprise cases investing in Latin America and conducted analysis from five aspects, which are investment process, investment motivation, investment capabilities, investment strategies and investment results, to show the real picture of Chinese company investing in Latin America. Finally, we draw the corresponding conclusions and enlightenment.
