Initiated by Tsinghua University, the “China-Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges — 2026 Poverty Alleviation Challenge” aims to build a platform for transnational collaboration, knowledge exchange, and practical innovation for Chinese and Latin American youth. On August 12 and 13, 2026 (Brazil time), the field study and specialized seminar activities for the Brazil Final were held in Rio de Janeiro. Chinese and Latin American youth visited the ViDançar Center in the Alemão community to learn about local practices in promoting social inclusion and youth development through art, education, and community service. On the following day, a Poverty Alleviation Seminar was held at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where representatives from Chinese and Brazilian universities, enterprises, social organizations, and research institutions exchanged views on topics such as “Poverty Alleviation and Development” and “From Pitch to Practice”, exploring mutual learning of poverty alleviation experiences and implementation paths for innovative solutions.

From August 18 to 19, 48 media outlets—including China Weekly, iFeng, China.com, Sohu, Toutiao, and Baijiahao—published the article titled “Brazil Station Final of the 2026 Poverty Alleviation Challenge Kicks Off: Field Study and Specialized Seminar Jointly Explore the Path of China-Latin America Poverty Alleviation Cooperation”. This coverage systematically presented the community visits and specialized seminar activities during the Brazil Final, focusing on how youth entered real communities and engaged in dialogue with various practitioners to deepen their understanding of poverty alleviation and sustainable development in a transnational context while exploring ways to transform innovative solutions into actual actions.
