Day 4 of the Study Tour in China for Latin American Teachers and Students: Brazilian Youth Representatives Visit Envision Group

About the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge

Co-hosted by Tsinghua University, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, the University of Chile, the Universidad del Pacífico in Peru and Minera Las Bambas S.A., the China-Latin American Youth Responding to Global Challenges — 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge attracted the participation of more than 310 teachers and students from 27 universities and enterprises across four countries: China, Brazil, Chile and Peru. The Challenge is divided into two stages: the Preliminary Competition and the Transnational Final, aiming to promote cross-cultural communication and collaboration, and inspire the innovative thinking and practical capabilities of global youth in the field of poverty alleviation.

On June 7, 2025, the Preliminary Competition of the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge was successfully held, with Tsinghua University as the offline main venue and participants from Latin American countries competing simultaneously in a hybrid online and offline format. After a fierce competition, 12 innovative teams stood out and advanced to the Transnational Final. In August 2025, the Transnational Final of the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge was held in Brazil and Chile successively.

In January 2026, 32 Latin American university students who advanced to the final came to China for cultural immersion activities, including face-to-face exchanges with Chinese teachers and students, visits to China's poverty alleviation bases and institutions, and Chinese cultural tours.

The 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge received support from the Chinese Embassy in Brazil, the Consulate-General of China in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian Embassy in China, the Chinese Embassy in Chile, the Chilean Embassy in China and the Chinese Embassy in Peru. We sincerely thank renowned domestic and foreign enterprises for their strong support for the event, including Envision Group, CGE, Minera Las Bambas S.A., China Mobile International (Chile), Kuaishou International Business (KSIB) and Banco BOCOM BBM S.A..


On January 21, 2026, a delegation of teachers and students from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in Brazil visited Envision Group for enterprise visits and exchange activities. The event aimed to further deepen Brazilian youth's understanding of outstanding Chinese enterprises, build a high-level exchange platform for green technology and youth development, and inject new impetus into promoting China-Brazil energy transition and poverty alleviation undertakings.

Distinguished guests present at the event included: Marcello Trombelli, Solutions Director of Latin America Regional of Envision Group; Chen Yiwen, Director of Public Affairs of Envision Group; Jiang Miaomiao, Assistant Director of the Recruitment Center of Envision Group; Li Xiang, Director of Campus Recruitment of Envision Group; Zhu Shiyao, Strategic Operations Analyst of Envision Group; Chen Taotao (online), Professor of the Finance Department at the School of Economics and Management, Diretor of Tsinghua University Latin American Center and Director Research Center for China-Latin America Management Studies, SEM, Tsinghua University; Paula Silva De Carvalho, Research Associate of the National Institute of Science and Technology for Public Policy and Development Strategies (INCT-PPED) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro; Feng Jian, PhD candidate at the Tsinghua University Center for Latin American Studies; and Chen Mingrong, Project Director at the Tsinghua University Center for Latin American Studies.

At the start of the visit, guided by the staff of Envision Group, the delegation visited the Product and Solution Exhibition Hall in depth. A series of cutting-edge green technology achievements were on display, from intelligent wind turbine models and smart energy storage systems to the global energy management platform. Through vivid and detailed explanations, the teachers and students not only directly appreciated the strong driving force of technology for energy transition, but also deeply understood Envision's broad development potential and practical paths in the zero-carbon field.

In the subsequent forum session, Marcello Trombelli first extended a warm welcome to the delegation. Professor Chen Taotao delivered a speech via online connection, expressing sincere gratitude to Envision Group for its strong support for the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge. He also mentioned that with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Brazil, the 2026 Poverty Alleviation Challenge will further expand its influence and is expected to inject new vitality into the "China-Brazil Culture Year".

At the meeting, Feng Jian, a PhD candidate at the School of Economics and Management of Tsinghua University, reviewed the splendid occasion, operation mechanism and remarkable achievements of the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge. As a representative of the Brazilian organizer, Research Associate Paula Silva De Carvalho shared her experience in the organization and expressed firm confidence in the prospects of future cooperation. Brazilian student representatives Juliana Magaton Mello and Thomas Victor Cordeiro Guerra Strong respectively presented their teams' award-winning projects and talked freely about their gains and insights from participating in the Poverty Alleviation Challenge.

In the free exchange session, Marcello Trombelli encouraged Brazilian young students to seize the opportunities of the global energy transition, make full use of Envision's talent training resources and technical platforms in Brazil, and actively engage in the construction of sustainable fields such as wind power and green hydrogen to unify personal value and social value. Jiang Miaomiao, Assistant Director of the Recruitment Center, also extended a sincere invitation to Brazilian students, stating that with the continuous deepening and layout of Envision's energy projects in Brazil, the group will open more high-quality positions and sincerely welcome Brazilian youth to join hands in promoting practical cooperation between China and Brazil in the field of renewable energy.

Forum exchange

This exchange activity not only deepened the linkage mechanism of university-enterprise cooperation, but also injected strong impetus into the continuous expansion and influence enhancement of the Poverty Alleviation Challenge project. It effectively empowered China-Brazil poverty alleviation undertakings and youth development, and jointly depicted a beautiful blueprint for sustainable development.
