Beijing, morning of February 25, 2025– Professor Chen Taotao, Director of the Tsinghua University Latin America Center, visited the Embassy of Ecuador in China, accompanied by team of the Center. There, she held a cordial exchange with Ambassador María Soledad Córdova Montero.
The director began by presenting to the Ambassador the background of the establishment of Tsinghua Latin America Center. She then outlined the Center’s main ongoing projects, including the “China–Latin America Youth Responding to Global Challenges” initiative, the program to “promote the admission of Latin American students to Tsinghua,” and the upcoming event “Latin American and Caribbean Ambassadors Convention at Tsinghua.” She warmly invited the Ambassador to attend these activities and also encouraged her to promote the active participation of faculty and students from Ecuadorian higher education institutions in the poverty alleviation challenge organized by the Center. This initiative aims to foster cultural exchange between China and Latin America by encouraging students from Tsinghua and Latin American universities to share experiences related to poverty reduction.
Ambassador Córdova extended a warm welcome to Professor Chen and her team and praised the initiative of the “Latin American and Caribbean Ambassadors Convention at Tsinghua,” expressing her interest in once again hearing updated interpretations by Chinese economists on the country’s economic development. The Ambassador affirmed that the Embassy of Ecuador in China will continue to strongly support the work of Tsinghua University and committed to actively encouraging Ecuadorian universities to take part in projects such as the poverty alleviation challenge, with the goal of learning from China’s successful experience in this area and promoting cooperation and exchange between both countries in the field of education.
This meeting further strengthened the friendly relationship between Tsinghua University and the Embassy of Ecuador in China, laying a solid foundation for broader collaboration in the future.
