Prof. Chen Taotao, Director of Tsinghua University Latin America Center, visited Valparaíso, Chile on December 13, local time in Chile. During her visit, she had a lunch meeting at the National Congress of Chile with Gael Yeomans, Chair of Finance Committee of Chamber of Deputies of Chile, Carol Cariola, Chair of Chile-China Parliamentary Friendship Group of Chamber of Deputies, and Andres Jouannet, member of Chile's House of Representatives.
At the meeting, Prof. Chen exchanged views on the investment areas and prospects of Chinese focus in Chile, infrastructure planning, and collaborative partnerships, in response to questions posed by Chilean legislators. In her perspective, China has amassed significant investment capacity and expertise throughout its course of opening up and development. One notable illustration is how relevant policies have been employed to attract foreign investment in the automotive sector. In terms of infrastructure project planning, Prof. Chen suggested that the economic benefits of the project should be prioritized. She further recommended that the government convene enterprises for collective discussions.

Moreover, there was a lively discussion between the two parties on various issues, such as approaches to making joint contribution to the collaboration between the two countries, the establishment of a regional government alliance in Latin America, and methods to attract Chinese companies for investment in Chile.
