As of April 7, the total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Latin America was nearly 37,000, with nearly 1,400 deaths, and the epidemic has spread to various degrees in different countries. Brazil, the worst-hit region in Latin America, has accumulated more than 10,000 confirmed cases, and the number of new confirmed cases continues to increase every day. The epidemic prevention work is facing unprecedented pressure; other Latin American countries, such as Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Panama, Argentina, etc., they all have confirmed cases over a thousand. In some countries, medical resources are severely scarce and severe cases are difficult to treat, the death toll is increasing, the panic among the people is spreading, and the epidemic situation is severe.

As a result, it can help people correctly deal with panic, examine whether they have the possibility of infection under scientific guidance, and effectively reduce the burden on medical staff and avoid running on medical resources.

In this context, combined with the overseas epidemic situation, in order to provide overseas compatriots with the convenience of the Covid-19 self-test, so that everyone can better monitor their own health conditions, the expert team has launched the international Chinese version of the Covid-19 Self-Assessment System. Tsinghua University Latin America Center has contacted various Chinese embassies and various Chinese-funded enterprises in Latin America to actively promote the international Chinese version of the Covid-19 Self-Assessment System to serve Chinese compatriots in Latin America, has gained unanimous praise from all parties. Among them, the Chinese embassies in Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Uruguay and Dominica responded actively; the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Chile and the Association of Chinese Enterprises in Peru expressed their high comment and appreciation for the system.
