On the afternoon of May 25, Ivan Moreira, the Chairman of the friendship group, along with his delegation, engaged in discussions with representatives from Tsinghua University regarding the development of green technology and technology transfer.
Li Jinliang, the Director of Tsinghua University's International Division, extended a warm welcome to Moreira and his delegation. He provided an overview of Tsinghua University's objectives and the process of technological innovation, emphasizing that Chile is a friendly partner and that active bilateral exchanges can contribute to achieving mutually beneficial cooperation.

The event was hosted by Chen Taotao, the Director of the Tsinghua University Latin American Center, who provided an introduction to the Center's functions and its efforts in supporting Tsinghua University's collaborative endeavors in Chile and other Latin American countries.
During the session, Wang Zhe, Vice Director of Institute for Carbon Neutrality of Tsinghua University, presented on the topic of "Future Energy System Outlook: Linking Carbon Neutrality and Energy Efficiency." Wei Jili, Senior Director of International Cooperation at Institute for Carbon Neutrality of Tsinghua University, provided an overview of Tsinghua University's technology and research in the field of green development. Gao Bolin, Vice President of Institute for Carbon Neutrality of Tsinghua University, discussed "Tsinghua Green Technology: Predictive Energy-saving Cruise Control for Heavy Duty Trucks" and highlighted the technology transfer cooperation between Tsinghua University and Latin America.

During the interactive session, both sides engaged in extensive discussions and shared insights regarding the advancements in green technology at Tsinghua University and the ongoing technology transfer cooperation with Chile. Moreira, the senator of the Independent Democratic Union, Chairman of the Chile-China Parliamentarians Friendship Group, and member of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, expressed his appreciation for Tsinghua's informative presentation, emphasizing its significance as a valuable learning opportunity. He also expressed Chile's keen interest in further expanding bilateral engagement, particularly in the areas of science and technology, as well as knowledge sharing.
Quintana, Senator of Partido por la Democracia, former Senate President, and former Chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, acknowledged the significance of the first presentation, which provided theoretical insights on emission reduction, and the second presentation, which explored the feasibility of achieving this goal. Both topics were deemed highly relevant and valuable. De Uresti, Senator of Partido Soeialista and former Deputy Senate President, contributed ideas on wetland conservation. Chile has extensive experience in this area and expressed a strong desire to collaborate with China on regional initiatives aimed at exploring effective wetland conservation measures.。
Aldenes, Senator of Partido por la Democracia, former governor of Aysén, and former vice president of Partido por la Democracia, emphasized the critical need to enhance cooperation in tackling the challenges presented by climate change. He highlighted the potential for continued exploration of collaborative opportunities in transportation and energy sectors, both at the national and university levels.
Mauricio Hurtado, Chilean Ambassador to China, expressed gratitude to both sides for their insightful contributions and emphasized the importance of future exchanges to foster mutual learning and promote the sharing of bilateral experiences. He acknowledged the value of such exchanges in furthering cooperation and facilitating a fruitful exchange of knowledge and idea.
In the concluding remarks, Prof. Chen Taotao expressed that Latin American Center aims to serve as a bridge, facilitating collaboration between educational institutions, enterprises, and the government. Achieving technology transfer with the support of Chile is a shared objective. Through this exchange, Tsinghua University is confident in its ability to collaborate with Chile in various domains and is deeply grateful for the support and trust extended by the Chilean side. Yan Xiaohui, Deputy Director of the Asia, Africa, and Latin America Department at the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs, also highlighted the wonderful friendship between China and Chile demonstrated by this exchange. Furthermore, he pledged to make efforts to foster more friendly exchanges between the two countries in the future.
