Editor' s Note: On December 2, professor Chen Taotao, the director of Tsinghua University Latin America Center, had an online meeting with Mr. Liang Yu, the Chinese ambassador to Peru, in order to explore more collaborative opportunities with Peruvian partners. From September to November, Tsinghua University organized together with Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú several academic activities for celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Peru.

During the meeting, professor Chen made an introduction about the process of establishment and the development of the Center, as well as the cooperation conducted with governments, universities and enterprises in Peru, Chile, and other Latin American countries. She expressed that, as a bridge of communication and cooperation between China and Latin America, the Center has been in close communication with academic institutions, government agencies and the businesspeople in the region since its establishment, to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the economic, trade and cultural fields, build mutual trust and promote people-to-people bonds and economic prosperity.

Ambassador Liang expressed his congratulations on the achievements of the Center  and gave important advice and guidance on the future cooperation between the Center and Latin American countries. He stated that Tsinghua University is a leading institution of higher education in China, and the Center is also a high-level think tank in the field of Latin American studies of China. He hoped that the Center can play a greater role in promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Latin America in the fields of economy and trade, humanities, climate change and development experience, so as to boost further development of China-Latin America relations.
