Editor's Note: During their study tour and practice in China, the winning Chilean youth team of the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge visited Gaochun in Jiangsu Province, toured the Gaochun Ceramic Museum and the "Ceramic Town", and carried out on-site learning on the historical inheritance and contemporary expression of Chinese ceramic culture. By closely understanding the cultural connotation of the "State Banquet Porcelain", ceramic making techniques, and the practical exploration of the integration of culture and tourism with study tour experience, they have an intuitive understanding of the practical path of China's excellent traditional culture in upholding integrity and fostering innovation, providing a vivid case for cultural study and exchange between Chinese and Latin American youth. Editor's Note: 32 Latin American youth who advanced to the final of the 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge gained an in-depth understanding of China's history, culture and the development of higher education through visits to the Juyong Pass of the Great Wall and the campus of Tsinghua University during the Beijing leg of their study tour in China. This study tour aims to take youth exchanges as a link to promote cultural mutual learning between China and Latin America and the exchange of poverty alleviation experience, laying a foundation for mutual learning and cooperation between the two sides on development issues. On January 24, 2026, Chinese and Brazilian teachers and students from Tsinghua University's 2025 Poverty Alleviation Challenge and the 10th "Rural Entrepreneurship +" Innovation and Creativity Camp visited Jiangzhiji in Xizhou Ancient Town of Dali. As a core research session specially added by Tsinghua University's "Rural Entrepreneurship +" project to deepen cross-cultural poverty alleviation practices, an intangible cultural heritage (ICH) study tour themed "Mutual Learning in Poverty Alleviation Practices, Youth Walking Hand in Hand" was held. Leveraging the profound cultural heritage of the Bai ethnic group in Xizhou Ancient Town, the study tour group systematically learned about the inheritance context and contemporary expression of traditional crafts through visiting the ICH Museum and participating in traditional papermaking practices
The chill still lingered, yet the footsteps moved forward. On January 24, 2026, the China-Latin America joint practice tour in Cili entered its third day. Members from the Tsinghua University Center for Latin American Studies, the "Rural Entrepreneurship +" program, the Cili Station of the Tsinghua University Rural Revitalization Workstation, as well as the Universidad del Pacífico in Peru and Minera Las Bambas S.A. continued to delve into the vibrant land of Cili. They visited Hunan Shenzhou Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Zhangjiajie Jinfu Kaisheng Shoes Co., Ltd. successively, exploring two distinct industrial paths both leading to "poverty alleviation and income increase" — from the entire industrial chain of traditional Chinese medicine to the intelligent upgrading of labor-intensive industries.
On January 24, 2026, the China-Latin America joint practice tour in Gaochun drew to a close. Teachers and students from Tsinghua University, the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and the University of Chile visited rural revitalization practice sites and characteristic cultural tourism scenes in depth during the three-day joint study tour, gaining a systematic understanding of Gaochun's exploratory achievements in industrial development, ecological protection and cultural exchanges. Through on-site visits and continuous exchanges, Chinese and Chilean youth enhanced mutual understanding and friendship in the process of learning and living together. The itinerary on the closing day was not only a continuation of the research practice, but also a concentrated presentation of the phased achievements of this China-Latin America youth exchange.
On January 23, 2026, teachers and students from Tsinghua University and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil went to Nanjian, Yunnan for an in-depth study tour. Centered on the theme of Mutual Learning in Poverty Alleviation Practices, Youth Walking Hand in Hand, the Brazilian teachers and students visited Leqiu Photovoltaic Power Station and Tsinghua Rural Academy successively, and experienced the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) of Nanjian Tiaocai Dance. Through immersive visits and in-depth exchanges, they unlocked Nanjian's experience in county-level poverty alleviation and rural revitalization in China, deepened the consensus between Chinese and Latin American youth in the fields of energy security and characteristic industrial development, and injected youthful power into China-Latin America poverty alleviation cooperation.
On January 23, 2026, members from the Tsinghua University Latin American Center, the "Rural Entrepreneurship +" program, the Cili Station of the Tsinghua University Rural Revitalization Workstation, as well as the Universidad del Pacífico in Peru and Minera Las Bambas S.A. continued their in-depth study tour in Cili County, Hunan Province. Following the exploration of the characteristic agricultural product industrial chain on the first day, the itinerary on the second day focused on the innovative development of the culture and tourism industry.
